Finchley Foil held its first Inter Club Competition on January 21st for under 11's and under 13's.It was a great success. There were fencers from Camden Fencing Club and St. Benedict's fencing Club from Ealing taking part. There was a great buzz at the club. Parents and fencers said they had a great day and are looking forward to the next one in March at St. Benedict's. Finchley Foil had two teams in each of the age groups U11's and U13's) with a total of 18 of the club fencers taking part. For some this was their first time taking part in a team event. The competition is a friendly competition and it is hoped that it will encourage more children and parents to enter competitions on a more regular basis. The aim is to give the fencers confidence to enter events and gives them experience fencing different opponents. For further information and entry forms please click this logo or the link.

If anyone is interested Leon Paul run a scheme to accredit junior referees. The scheme is formally recognised and is a great way to get more experience. If there is sufficient interest we will run a course at Finchley Foil. Further details can be found at http://www.leonpaul.com/lpjs/lpjs_referee.htm

Official Sports London is an exciting new bursary opportunity to assist Londoners aged 16+ to complete sports officiating qualifications, volunteer or work as officials and maybe even officiate at the London 2012 Games.

Gaining an Official Sports Bursary can unlock the door to gaining a new qualification, improve your access to volunteering, work and social opportunities and allow you to take the lead for your sport

Finchley Foil Old Boys
Richard and Laurence started their fencing careers in Finchley foil many years ago and as our number 1 and 2 foilists are the mainstay of the team which won bronze in the European Team championships last year. At present they are in training for the London 2012 Olympics and attended the test event held at the Excel Centre on Saturday the 26th and Sunday 27th November 2011. We wish them the best of luck for 2012!
