Volunteers:

We are always looking for volunteers so if you are a parent who can help with admin, packing up kit, or simply helping the younger members get kitted up please contact Hazel or Clare. If you are an older member of the club and would like to try your hand at becoming a Junior Coach please let us know.

Many thanks to the many parents who help keep the kit tidy and general help at the club, to Clare for all her help together with Sharon and Hazel in running the club, collecting the fees and generally keeping the club running smoothly, producing the Newsletter etc each term. Thanks to our young junior coach James for his endless energy working with our mini fence group with Akos and helping with the young beginners group and helping generally also.

Thanks also to Steve, a BF qualified armourer who spends many hours over the holidays checking and repairing the kit, as well as managing and updating the web site. Sharon collates all the up to date information and Steve updates the webpages, so if you have any news or results to be posted on the website can you please send details to sharonbrosnan1@googlemail.com.

Interested in more fencing? Why not go along to William Ellis School, NW5 where Salle Paul our associated senior club is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings term time only from 6.30pm and holds special junior sessions on Tuesdays. If you are interested please speak with Clare, Ákos or Sharon for more details or check out there website www.sallepaul.co.uk

Regional Affiliation: As a member of England Fencing every fencer is eligible to represent their Region in national competitions. In the past this has led to considerable confusion over who may fence for whom as the boundaries of the Regions have varied over time.
Not any more. When you join England Fencing or renew your membership you will be asked to choose your Region. This will remain fixed until your next membership renewal when you may change it if you wish. For most Finchley Foil fencers their Region will be London but South East or Eastern might also be relevant. The choice matters if you wish to fence for your region at the BYCs or in the Cadet Winton Cup.

Reminders:

We expect fencers to look after any club kit they borrow and put it away correctly after use ie: foils into the foil bag; jackets into the correct bag; body wires neatly rolled up in a small plastic bag into the body wire bag; masks into the big bags. Parents this is the fencer’s own responsibility but please remind them if necessary. Anything faulty should be given to Clare for repair not put back in the bags.

Parents – do help yourselves to tea/coffee (no charge). Please wash up the mugs afterwards.

Finchley Foil needs help with various jobs such as keeping the kit under control and a press officer.

If you are interested please contact Clare, Hazel or Sharon
